PROBLEM:
Sludge developed from wastewater, inefficient operation of facility

The summer climate in Abu Dhabi is severe, with daytime temperatures consistently above 100°F. Odors emanating from sewer manways create a public health nuisance. A sewage pump station, PS2/12, receives effluent from a slaughterhouse. The effluent is high in sulfides and creates noxious odors in a residential area. Municipal engineers had been working on this problem for many years.
