PROJECT E-1
Septic Sewage and Grease Trap Treatment Projects
Automobile Service Center, Seabrook, NH
PROBLEM:
Motor oil waste in septic tank
In Seabrook, NH, a septic tank at an automobile service center was
required to be pumped in preparation for closure as a result of a new
sewer connection. When the cover of the tank was removed, the pumper
refused to remove the contents, as a 1/4 inch of used motor oil waste
was floating on top of the septage. A hazardous waste contractor also
refused to take the oily waste because of the septage.
SOLUTION:
Apply MicroSorb®SC, aerate, circulate
Two pounds of MicroSorb® SC were applied to the tank
along with an aeration and circulation system. Another pound of
MicroSorb® SC was applied over a two-week period.
RESULTS:
Oil is gone in two weeks
At the end of the two-week period, the oil was gone. The treated water
in the tank was pale gray and the septage hauler removed the tank
water.
